2381666282_ce6d83873d_b.jpgOn the afternoon of April 1, Rainforest Action Network activists used “Bank Closed” signs and caution tape reading “Global Warming Crime Scene” to shut down 6 Bank of America and 3 Citibank ATMs throughout the San Francisco financial district. Confused customers thought the signs were real, and many of these ATMs stayed closed for the rest of the day. Bank of America - whose CEO, Ken Lewis, won this year’s Fossil Fools Award - is the biggest funder of coal mountaintop removal mining in Appalachia, while Citibank is the biggest funder of new coal power plant construction.
